This succulent is often mistakenly called a palm. It is called a palm because of its single trunk with leaves on top. It grows from a fat trunk base allowing the tree to withstand long periods of drought. Other common names include ‘Bottle Palm’ and ‘Elephants Foot Tree’. When planted outdoors it can grow up to 9m tall.

The typical ponytail palm consists of a large ‘stump’ which tapers off into a thinner stem. It grows long, leathery leaves from one or more rosettes that form from the top of the stem. Ponytail palms are part of the agave family, but while the leaves are rough to the touch they aren't as stiff and thorny as what would be expected from an agave

These plants are still small, and if kept indoors will not grow as rapidly as when planted in the ground. They are planted in a 12.5cm pot and stand about 30cm high.

We have a few available and even if you do not get the exact plant pictured you will receive a plant similar in size.
